Structural Engineering
The specific research activities consist mainly of numerical and experimental research on the different topics of structural engineering, such as:
- Thermo-mechanical characterization of construction materials and their durability used in structural elements and systems;
- Development of models for structural analysis, considering geometric and material non-linear behaviour;
- Structural analysis and fire resistance towards Performance Based Fire Engineering of structures;
- Rehabilitation, conservation and reinforcement of structures;
- Dynamic analysis of structures and control systems.
Materials, Products and Eco-Construction
In this research line, the main goals to achieve are:
- The inspection, evaluation and analysis of the life cycle of the infrastructures built in rural, urban and industrial;
- Materials and products with embedded low energy and deconstruction, reuse and recycling strategies;
- The characterization of materials and construction systems as well as the evaluation of durability for sustainability;
- Manufacturing processes and their optimization.
Energy, Environment and Management
In this research line, the main goals to achieve are:
- Built environment sustainability and quality (energy efficiency, water efficiency and reuse, construction and demolition waste, fire safety, sustainable mobility, sustainable construction at site work and life cycle analysis).
- Implementation and development of numerical and computational methods for the solution of partial differential equations in the context of thermal and fluid mechanics.
